Check a doctor’s medical council registration by name or number.

Search the Indian Medical Register mirror that Raydiac uses to verify every radiologist on its panel. Enter the doctor’s name, the registration number on their council certificate, or both. The result shows exactly what the register records: name, number, council, qualification and year.

Coverage. This mirror holds 23,581 entries from one council: Punjab Medical Council (23,581 doctors, refreshed 14 March 2026). Doctors registered elsewhere will not appear here yet; use the official Indian Medical Register search for other councils. More councils are added as the mirror grows.

A registration check is only as good as what you record. Hospitals credentialing a radiologist should file the result against the doctor’s record and repeat the check every year.

Compare the name, number and council together

A registration number is only unique within its State Medical Council. The same number with a different council is a different doctor.

Check the qualification and year against the certificate

The register records the degree, often the university and the year. A mismatch is a reason to ask for the certificate, not proof of anything by itself.

Save the result with the date

A screenshot or PDF of this page, filed with the credentialing record, is what an auditor or a court will ask for later.

No result is not a verdict

Entries are missing for some councils and some years. Ask the doctor for the council certificate and confirm with the council directly before drawing a conclusion.

Questions about checking a registration

How do I check whether a doctor is registered with the NMC?
Search by name or registration number. A registered doctor appears in the Indian Medical Register with a name, registration number, the State Medical Council that issued it, qualification and year. This page searches Raydiac’s mirror of that register for the councils listed under coverage; for any other council use the official search on nmc.org.in. If you find nothing, ask the doctor for the council certificate and confirm with that State Medical Council directly, because older entries are sometimes missing from the register.
Is this the official NMC search?
No. The official search is the Indian Medical Register on nmc.org.in, run by the National Medical Commission. This page searches a copy of the public register that Raydiac keeps to verify the radiologists on its own panel. It is refreshed periodically, the refresh date is shown for each council, and it never adds or changes what the register says.
Can I search by name only?
Yes. Enter at least three letters. Common names return many entries, so add the registration number from the doctor’s certificate, or more of the name, to narrow the result. Initials are matched as initials: “R K Sharma” finds entries whose name has words starting with R and K and containing Sharma.
What does the result show, and what does it leave out?
Name, registration number, State Medical Council, qualification with university and year where the register records them, and the year of registration. The register also records a father’s name and an address; this page does not show those, because they are not needed to confirm a registration and are personal data.
The doctor is registered but does not appear here. Why?
Most often because the doctor is registered with a council this mirror does not yet cover; see the coverage list. Sometimes because the register spells the name differently from the certificate, so try the surname alone or the registration number. Occasionally because the council has not sent the entry to the NMC at all, which is why hospitals should also keep a copy of the council certificate.
What is the difference between the Indian Medical Register and the National Medical Register?
The Indian Medical Register is the existing list of doctors registered with State Medical Councils, consolidated by the NMC. The National Medical Register, opened in August 2024, is the new Aadhaar-linked register with a unique identifier per doctor; enrolment is still in progress, so the Indian Medical Register remains the working reference.
